Remake Learning Days CHI Returns for Its Second Year!

  • CLX Staff

CLX, in collaboration with the City of Chicago, WTTW, Project Exploration, Chicago Park District, and Chicago Public Schools Family and Community Engagement, will again host Remake Learning Days (RLD) CHI, a family friendly pop-up festival highlighting 100+ hands-on, innovative learning experiences for youth of all ages in Chicago neighborhoods.

As CLX continues to look at the root causes of disparities in education and out-of-school learning (OST) opportunities, we realize the need to offer programming that also impacts parents and families. In 2019, CLX joined a national conversation to remake learning and embarked on our efforts in Chicago to connect parents, families, and caregivers with students’ interests in learning by raising awareness about learning assets in their own neighborhoods. With this in mind, RLD CHI was born!

CLX is thrilled to announce that RLD CHI is returning for its second year from May 14-17, 2020, kicking off with a breakfast in the Austin neighborhood on May 14. With engaging and innovative learning opportunities accessible to those that need it the most in Chicago’s communities in the South and West sides, RLD CHI 2020 hopes to continue its goal of helping close the socioeconomic learning gap. The festival embraces all types of learning spaces, including museums, schools, libraries, parks, community-based organizations, and more, while youth, families, and caregivers can experience digital making, art workshops, and science experiments.

With already have some amazing events lined up for this year's festival, including: Listen To Me (Talkback), Chicago Student Invention Convention @ STEAM Powered Saturday, Self-Initiated Play in Nature, STEAMbassadors Showcase, Got a Problem? Create an Invention!, Civitas Community, Impact Experience End-of-Year Showcase, BUILD Chicago and ICMC Present the WorldScene, Film Festival: "MOVIN' ON UP!", Nature Block Party: Bike, Hike and Play!, and CHICAT STEAM Open House, among many others! We hope you'll join us in adding to this slate of events and providing even more enrichment opportunities for children across Chicago!

Community partners can use this event as an opportunity to promote their work; organizations can test out parent engagement, encourage recruitment, gain exposure to a national audience, and of course, engage children from across the city in a dynamic and impactful way. So whether your work revolves around STEAM activities for elementary schoolers or amplifying Youth Voice for adolescents, you can showcase your innovative learning opportunities at RLD CHI, and reach thousands of children, parents, caregivers, and educators.

Remake Learning Days CHI not only creates a brighter future for our youth and families, but also tells a different story about how our region is advancing racial equity so that all youth have the opportunity and awareness to participate, engage, and prepare for this changing world. Please find more details here and SUBMIT your event by March 16, 2020.
