August 20th Virtual Meetup

  • 08.20.2020 @ 9:00am – 11:00am
  • Zoom Conference

The CLX August Virtual Meetup: "Lessons in the Frontline: Digital Divide, Engagement, and Wellness” will provide insight on wellness practices, an introduction to an empathetic design-thinking exercise, and a chance to discuss and exchange engagement strategies with the CLX Network around the digital divide and engagement. (If you're on your phone, you can register here.)

Syda Segovia Taylor, social justice advocate and Founder and Executive Director of Organic Oneness, will start us off by highlighting the importance of a wellness practice. Her nonprofit promotes the interconnectedness of all people and the Earth. Syda is devoted to improving the holistic health of young people and has worked to bring opportunities to youth and families in under-resourced Black and Latino communities.

Her segment will be the perfect segway to a CLX design thinking activity that will challenge and engage members in thinking through the needs of their youth by creating customizable youth personas. The activity will explore how organizations can support the diverse needs of their learners. Educators who attend will be able to take away a digital divide resource 1 pager and the activity template.

CLX hosts a monthly Meetup to network, exchange learnings, and connect Chicago's learning ecosystem. At the CLX virtual meetup, you will experience a professional learning community and working-group time with a dynamic group of educators, youth-development professionals, librarians, parents, researchers, funders, journalists, and technologists who share a passion for advancing racial equity in the future of learning and work.

CLX meetups feature virtual workshops, presentations, and event announcements while dedicating time for exchanging ideas and creating projects with like-minded individuals. If you have an announcement you would like to present or are interested in suggesting a topic for discussion, this Jotform is the place to make those submissions and inquiries. Please submit these by the end of the day Tuesday, August 18.
