CSforCHI Community of Practice

Take time to develop your own professional learning and youth development skills this year with a Community of Practice (CoP). CLX Communities of Practice invite out-of-school-time practitioners and programs staff to build community in the OST ecosystem, increase their knowledge of new and good practices for youth-centered programming, and to workshop common challenges shared across their work. Program Description:

The CSforCHI Community of Practice is a group of educators, organizations, and stakeholders who care about access and equity in CS programming for youth. We will connect to build practices and partnership, share information and challenges, and increase awareness and access to OST CS opportunities for Chicago youth.

Schedule:

The CoP will tentatively meet on the following schedule:

11/7/23, 9:30-11:30

12/5/23, 9:30-11:30

1/9/24, 9:30-11:30

2/6/24, 9:30-11:30

3/5/24, 9:30-11:30

4/2/24, 9:30-11:30

5/7/24, 9:30-11:30

We will prioritize in-person meetings, and ask that participants commit to consistent participation to help the work, connections, and conversations build across time.

Audience and Participation:

This CoP is for you if you:

-work with youth in CS programs in out-of-school time, or manage CS OST programs

-want to build community and connections with other folks working at the intersections of CS and youth development

-care about increasing racial equity, awareness of, and belonging in CS programs and careers for all Chicago youth, especially those most underrepresented in CS fields

-want to deepen, enrich, and expand your own practices in CS education

-are able to commit to attending at least 4 of the CoP sessions

Fall 2023-Spring 2024 Communities of Practice are offered for free and are designed for organizations and individuals working in the OST ecosystem in Youth Mentorship and Computer Science (CSforCHI).
