CLX Spotlight: CLX Intern, Valu Gomez Corzo
¡Hola! I'm Valu. I am originally from Chiapas, Mexico, and currently attend Lake Forest College, where I study Latin American and Latinx Studies and Public Policy. My journey in community work began in 2017 when I co-founded Movimiento Niñas Mariposa with my mom and sisters. This early experience in youth development eventually led me to the Chicago Learning Exchange, where I have spent the last two semesters learning what it means to support the people and organizations that help young people thrive.
My time as an intern at CLX has been a meaningful opportunity to learn and work alongside Chicago's community weavers. I have loved seeing how CLX serves the city by connecting and investing in the mentors and organizations who support young people every day.
It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of a network where inclusion is a priority and where advocating for the resources organizations need to thrive is a central focus. Being part of the CLX team has shown me that when we support the people behind the programs, we create a more equitable and connected city for everyone.
