September 17th Virtual Meetup

CLX hosts a monthly Meetup to network, exchange learnings, and connect Chicago's learning ecosystem. At the CLX virtual meetup, you will experience a professional learning community and working-group time with a dynamic group of educators, youth-development professionals, librarians, parents, researchers, funders, journalists, and technologists who share a passion for advancing racial equity in the future of learning and work.

Join us for the upcoming CLX September Virtual Meetup: Community Spotlight will feature "Youth Digital Media & Activism Showcase”” It will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 9 to 11 am. Register here using the Zoom password CLX.

As always, we model what we want to see in the world. In order to promote wellness amongst the youth we reach, we must first work on our wellness as educators. The Meetup starts with insight on a replicable mindful practice shared by Syda Taylor, Organic Oneness. She will be presenting, “Let’s Get Some Sleep!!!”

We will be hearing from our Youth Digital Media & Activism (YDMA) Community of Practice (CoP). YDMA grantees who will present a showcase of their summer programming and the overall work they’ve accomplished while a part of the CoP:

• Matt Woods, from Urban Gateways, will speak on the Multimedia Journalism Summer Partnership done in collaboration with Street Level and Chicago Votes.
• Vanessa Sanchez will go over Pathways to Civic Journalism Careers work done by Yollocalli, the National Museum of Mexican Art’s youth program.
• Denise Zaccardi, from Chicago TV Network, will brief us on their Project Waters summer program.
  
  

Following the showcase, there will be two breakout sessions focusing on Youth Voice. One Breakout Session continues with the YDMA CoP the other will be led by Hillary Cook at The Art Institute where she’ll dive into Advisory Councils.
