For the last five years, Wade worked as the manager of the Teen Learning Lab, a drop-in space for teens at Shedd Aquarium. He is now pursing a PhD in Learning Sciences at Northwestern University. He hopes to better understand social learning in out-of-school time (especially drop-in programs). He also intends to examine how learners perceive the environments, how learner identities form over time, and how to develop better research and practice partnerships. He looks forward to studying this in Chicago, where organizations cooperate through networks like Hive Chicago.
Wade previously served as an outreach coordinator for the Games+Learning+Society Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he organized teacher professional development. Outside of the learning world, you can find Wade on a soccer field, in a tent on a trail somewhere, or hidden away in one of Chicago’s secret bars!
