Outlier Research & Evaluation | UChicago STEM Education

Outlier Research & Evaluation resides in the Data Science Institute at the University of Chicago. We are a cross-disciplinary group of researchers committed to doing applied research and evaluation through a lens of bringing equity to education. Outlier’s research portfolio has primarily focused on equity in STEM education with specific attention to understanding innovation implementation, spread and endurance. We have experience in a range of topic areas including elementary science and mathematics, STEM Schools, computer science education and data science education. Evaluation work has spanned a range of K adult programs including formal and informal K-12 educational settings, higher education, and other adult settings (e.g., leadership academies). Across both research and evaluation strands, Outlier is committed to work that generates actionable findings for organizations striving to improve opportunities and outcomes for youth.
