Steven Willis - Chicago Youth Centers
Steven is the STEM Program Manager for Chicago Youth Centers (CYC). I have been working with diverse Chicago youth and families for over 10 years. My experience is with informal teaching and learning with a focus on STEM, college/career readiness, and leadership/character development. My work experiences have allowed me to collaborate with an impressive group of organizations, institutions, and providers. The collaborative work has impacted numerous youth and their families through innovative and powerful programs, experiences and opportunities. I have also presented at national and international conferences and sat on various committees on STEM teaching and learning, out-of-school time education and positive youth development. . Between 2012 and 2015 I worked as the Family Engagement Manager at CYC developing a robust, comprehensive and impactful family engagement strategy that has been adopted and consistently practiced across all CYC programs and centers. In 2015 he accepted the role of STEM Program Manager. In this role I was instrumental in designing and transforming teaching spaces at CYC’s Rebecca K. Crown Center, Elliott Donnelley Youth Center and Sid Epstein Centers into Maker Labs.
