Nicholas Wylie - Public Media Institute
Public Media Institute is a non-profit 501(c) 3, community based, art & culture organization located in the neighborhood of Bridgeport in the city of Chicago. Our mission is to create, incubate and sustain innovative cultural programming through the production of socially engaged projects, festivals, spaces, exhibitions, and media.
PMI launched Chicago’s newest Low Power FM Radio Station to serve communities based in the Chicagoland area. Lumpen Radio, ( WLPN-LP ) is on the air 24 hours a day at 105.5 fm. You can also Plug-in and listen at lumpenradio.com.
Public Media Institute is committed to the region’s cultural ecology and is evident through our series of programs and projects. Programming highlights include our space the Co-Prosperity Sphere which facilitates multiple platforms for experiencing a wide variety of public cultural programs, artist-run initiatives and projects. Lumpen Radio is a collaborative effort of over 100 individuals and organizations creating original programming, talk shows, and music driven programming.
PMI publishes several periodicals including Lumpen magazine, Materiel Magazine, and Mash Tun Journal. Public Media Institute showcases emerging and established artists from Chicago and around the world in our network of art spaces and partner organizations. Our main exhibition facility is the experimental cultural center, Co-Prosperity Sphere: a 4,000 + sq ft arts and performance space.
