Jaclyn Carmichael - Museum of Science & Industry

Jaclyn is originally from Chicago and graduated with her degree in Biological Sciences with Teacher’s Certification from Eastern Illinois University. She started her career as a formal educator in Phoenix, Arizona, teaching middle school science and after a year, moved back to Chicago to continue working in urban education at Perspectives Charter Schools, teaching several subjects, including Biology and Environmental Science. After 4 years in the classroom, Jaclyn shifted gears and moved to the non-profit education realm when she took a position with Project Exploration. She started as Program Manager, working to build the program portfolio and strengthening the organization’s ties in low-income neighborhoods to reach students of color and inspire them in STEM education. When promoted to Program Director, Jaclyn had the opportunity to take charge of building partnerships, strengthening her team through trainings, and initiate new programming to reach students in new subjects. Jaclyn is currently the Director of Youth Programs and Pathways at the Museum of Science & Industry. She also recently received her Master of Public Administration at Illinois Institute of Technology - Stuart School of Business.
