Communities In Schools of Chicago
Communities In Schools (CIS) of Chicago was established in 1988 with the mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and succeed in life. Our vision is that each and every Chicago public school student graduates high school prepared for success. We are the dropout prevention organization that works. To address the drop out problem in Chicago, we partner with 160 Chicago public schools, connecting students to critical supports inside and outside the classroom in four broad priority areas: behavioral/mental health; physical health/wellness; arts enrichment; college/career readiness. Our school partners give us a footprint across 56 of Chicago's 77 official community areas.
